Terms of Service — Passbook

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the website passbook.family, the Passbook Desktop Application, or view.passbook.family (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using Passbook on behalf of your family or household, you represent that you have the authority to bind them to these terms. You must be at least 18 years of age to enter into this agreement.

2. Nature of the Service

Passbook is a software tool designed for personal wealth tracking and analytics.

The Software License: The Company grants you a personal, non-exclusive, and non-transferable license to use the Passbook software. We own the software and its design; you retain total ownership of your data.

Trial Period: We offer a 14-day free trial with full feature access.

Read-Only Mode: After the trial period, if a valid subscription is not active, the Service enters a "Read-Only" mode. You will retain access to view your existing data, but the ability to add new records or edit existing data will be disabled until a license is purchased.

3. Fees, Payments, and Refunds

Pricing: We offer an Annual Plan (₹999) and a Lifetime Plan (₹4,999). Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes.

30-Day Guarantee: In accordance with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, we offer a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund policy. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, contact [email protected] within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

Third-Party Processors: Payments are handled by authorized third-party providers (e.g., Razorpay, Stripe). The Company does not store or see your credit card or bank details.

4. The "Zero-Knowledge" Security Responsibility

Passbook's architecture is "local-first" and "zero-knowledge". This means you are the sole custodian of your financial data.

Master Password: You are entirely responsible for remembering your Master Password. The Company does not store this password and cannot reset it for you.

Hardware-Based Recovery: You can only reset your Master Password from the original device where Passbook was installed, using your device's native biometrics or OS credentials (Secure Enclave/TPM).

Irretrievable Data: If you lose both your Master Password and access to your original hardware, your data will be permanently encrypted and inaccessible. The Company is not liable for data loss resulting from forgotten passwords, lost keys, or hardware failure.

5. Private Web Access

When you use view.passbook.family, the decryption of your vault happens entirely within your browser's memory. No decrypted data is transmitted to our servers. You are responsible for the security of the browser and device used for web access.

6. Technical Data and Performance

You acknowledge that the Company uses technical identifiers (such as session-based visit IDs and an anonymized device identifier) and usage analytics to monitor Service quality, understand product usage, and improve the Service. 7. No Financial or Investment Advice

Passbook is a tool for organization and analysis.

Non-Advisory: The Company is not a SEBI-registered investment advisor, tax consultant, or chartered accountant.

Informational Use: Nifty 50 benchmarks and analytics are for educational and comparative purposes only.

User Liability: Any financial decisions made based on the data in Passbook are your sole responsibility. The Company is not liable for any market losses or investment outcomes.

8. Family Sharing

Sharing is peer-to-peer via Google Drive. You are responsible for the data you share with family members. While you can revoke access at any time, the Company is not responsible for how your family members use or store the data while they have access.

If you add a family member's email address to facilitate vault sharing, you represent and warrant that: (a) you have obtained that person's prior consent to receive a Passbook invitation email to their address; and (b) you are authorised to share the relevant financial data with them. The Company processes the invited person's email address solely for the purpose of delivering a one-time sharing invitation. If the invited person does not wish to be contacted, they may decline the invitation or contact us at [email protected] to have their email removed.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Passbook Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of profits, data loss, or financial losses. Our total liability for any claim related to the software shall not exceed the total amount you paid for the software license.

User-Side Security: As the Service utilizes a zero-knowledge architecture where you are the sole custodian of your encryption keys and Master Password, the Company shall not be liable for any unauthorized access to your data, loss of data, or security breaches resulting from:

Theft, loss, or compromise of your Master Password;
Unauthorized access to, or compromise of, the physical device or browser used to access the Service;
Any failure on your part to maintain the security of your OS-level credentials (biometrics/PIN/Password).

10. Termination

You may terminate this agreement at any time by deleting your account and the software. We reserve the right to terminate your license if you violate these terms, specifically regarding any attempt to reverse-engineer the software.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bangalore, Karnataka.
